The citation is real. The number next to it isn’t in the source.

I followed a link in a draft and it supports the general topic, not the precise claim. The footnote made the sentence look much stronger than it was.

Either find a source that actually supports that number or remove the number. Don’t use a related article as a decorative credibility stamp.

Removed it. The point still works as a hypothesis, and now the reader can tell that’s what it is.
